About Garatri Shriram

Smt. Gayatri Sriram, has created a niche for herself with her unique thematic presentations which are kept within the strictly traditional framework of Bharatanatyam. She has studied Bharatanatyam under Kalakshetra Alumnus Smt. Minal Prabhu. Her dance reflects the exactness and precision that theKalakshetra style demands, yet speaks of an individual perspective and freshness with completeinvolvement which sets her apart as an artiste.

To Gayatri, dance is an extension of herself, an art form that she fully identifies with and performs with both honesty and dedication. An Empanelled Artiste with the prestigious Indian Council for CulturalRelations, she has performed widely in India and aboard with several noteworthy presentations to her credit. She has graced and performed at International art festivals and prestigious venues like Esplanade Singapore for Kala Utsavam and the Raga Series. Her productions have been staged at The Oswald-Strasbourg, The Wits Theatre – Johannesburg for the India Festival in South Africa, the India HabitatCentre – Delhi for the HCL Series honouring excellence in Dance as well as the NCPA Mumbai in both Experimental Theatre and the Godrej Theatre. She was invited to perform at the Tagore Centre in Berlin,The Nehru Centre in London, Musée Guimet in Paris and The India House in Paris, among others. Herwork “Yagyeseni” with Pavan Varma, writer- and poet-statesman was staged as part of the India festival at the Hague in the famous Korzo Theatre.

She is the recipient of the Rukmini Devi Arundale Award from Sri Krishna Gana Sabha, and the Ananya Puraskar. She is an alumnus of the Singapore International Federation. Gayatri is the founder of, andruns, Shrutilaya School of Dance in Singapore, inculcating the rigorous Kalakshetra style ofBharatanatyam in the eager learner. She is the producer of Samarpana, The Asian Festival of Dance in Singapore and co-producer of Ananya Samarpana festival in Bengaluru, India.
